Sinniesa or dovetail knife
The artefact
This foldable damask steel knife, decorated with a raw mutton horn hand-made handle, is typical of the village of Sinnai. Its peculiar dovetail handle that this knife is named after, is refined by a guard decorated with the symbol of the lapwing, a subject typical of Sardinian tradition, often used as a sign of tribute to fertility and freedom, and a brass tail. The artefact is sold inside a leather case.
